People are often making the same mistake optimizing their website in the same way like 10 years ago. While some parameters are not so valuable as they used to be (such as a meta keywords tag), other parameters are even more valuable today, especially after the Panda update. Here I will present you my on-site SEO model, based on my experience by optimizing

Page Title

This is, without a doubt, one of the most important on-site parameters. What you need to do is to short your Title tag to be no longer than 70 characters. New Google algorithm improvements tend to display the most relevant text from your longer title tag, which means Google decide what will be on your title tag if it is longer than 70 characters. Take this advantage, because from what I saw, there are many pages who are not properly optimized.

Meta Description

While meta description isn’t so important for your rankings, because Google’s algorithm value it less than a title, it is still a very important factor. Remember- write for the people not for the machines. Think about Meta description as a slogan which should attract internet users to click on your website. Keep it under 155 characters to squeeze the most of the benefits from it.

Image Alt Text

Image alt text is the text that search engine spiders use to “understand” the image. Simply, it is an alternative information source. Don’t confuse image alt text with Image title! Image title should provide additional information, just as any title. Bear in mind that keyword stuffing is also possible with image alt text, therefore you have to be careful. Keep your image alt text relevant.

Authorship Markup

Google favorite content connected to the author’s Google + page. Therefore, you have to implement “Rel-Author” or “Rel-me” meta tag. There is also a less known “Rel-Publisher” which is usually connected to a business profile on Google Plus profile. Authorship markup became one of the most important factors in 2012 and keep on holding that position in 2013. You need to take care about your “rel” meta tags if you already haven’t.

Rel- Canonical Tags

Rel-canonical is extremely important in case you have a duplicate content on your website. Search for the duplicate content and put a rel-canonical tag on it.

Social Meta Tags

Although most of the links from social profiles are no follow links, Google maintain those links as well.  With social meta tags you can attract more potential visitors by encouraging them to click and share your content. For Twitter, you can use “Twitter Cards” . Facebook “open Graph” is a similar social meta tag for that particular network. You can also use “” for Google+ .

SEO is constantly changing. Google now, more than ever pay attention about proper on-site SEO factors. I had a lot of problems especially with social meta tags for my money making ideas blog, but I performed a deep research of my on-site factors and came up with the conclusion. These tips here are based on what I had to do to improve my on-site parameters in order to rank higher on search engines. I am sure this small guide will help you a lot to optimize your website.
